When installing new aftermarket headers, new hardware should be used. An even clamping force is required to keep the header tight against the head in order to seal the exhaust gasket properly. The studs on your truck may be 20 to 30 years old, and we can tell you from experience that it is cheaper and easier to replace studs then it is to remove broken ones.
