With so many gaskets available for 22RE engines, how do you know what is good and what is garbage? We have been using KP Gaskets for years. These are made in Japan, not China or Taiwan. Note: We recommend using Aisin FIPG Black Formed in Place Gasket Maker, 1 Tube, 2oz, 57g (AB1207B) for installing the half moon seals in the head before installing the valve cover.  We also recommend using silicone around the water jackets on the intake manifold gasket. Make sure you follow all manufacturers recommendations when sealing and tightening fasteners as to create a tight seal.

Note: We recommend installing new head bolts anytime a 22R or RE Engine is rebuilt. Overtime engine bolts can stretch and cause problems with head gasket sealing.  It is an inexpensive addition to the overall cost of an engine rebuild and can pay for itself easily when you think of problems you may have down the road due to stretched head bolts.

At the dealerships, we used to use what the tech's would call fibbage, mostly because of the oe counterpart being named PIPG.  This gasket maker seemed to work better than any other gasket maker, and was Original Equipment on many Toyota vehicles.  It also works great on Toyota, and Suzuki vehicles for the following purposes-

We recommend using this sealant on Oil Pans for Toyota and Suzuki Models where the OE did not have a gasket.  You will have much greater success with this sealant than a cork gasket.
